Homeless Man Found Dead On NYC Train

Columbus Circle Station

Last night, it was discovered that a homeless man had passed away while riding on an uptown D train. Law enforcement officials reportedly believe that the man passed away from natural causes.

According to the New York Daily News, bed bugs covered the man’s body, and passengers noticed that the man was deceased when his body fell over as the train was pulling into the Columbus Circle station.

We are in the harshest part of the winter season in New York. So many people without homes are suffering. Humans shouldn’t have to live or die like this. My deepest condolences to this man.

Cathy Hughes On Losing Her Home As A Young Entrepreneur

Cathy Hughes

While building her empire early on, media mogul Cathy Hughes lost her house and her car after taking out a loan with a 28% interest rate to purchase a Washington D.C. radio station.

In an interview with The Root, Cathy Hughes said the following about losing her house and her car in the earlier 80s: “I was like Nikki Giovanni in her poem- she didn’t know she was poor until she got money. She was happy. Me too. I remember I was somewhere in Detroit and they introduced me and they talked about when I was homeless. I was offended. Afterwards I said, ‘Excuse me, I was never homeless.’ The lady was so apologetic, she was like, ‘I’m so sorry. I thought you had lost your house and your car and lived in the station.’ I said, ‘Yes.’ She said, ‘I think that qualifies you as being homeless.’

I have never dealt with the fact that I was homeless. I never called it that…I didn’t see it as me being homeless or impoverished because I was working on a goal, which was to build this media company, to build this radio station.”

Twin Infants Die At Queens, New York Homeless Shelter

The Landing Hotel

2020 has sadly started with tragedy in the New York City shelter system. On January 11, 2020, it was reported that 2-month old boy/girl twins died at a family shelter located near LaGuardia Airport. The death of the twins at The Landing Hotel is the second reported tragic occurrence at the shelter in two months. Just this last November, a 38-year old man was fatally stabbed outside of The Landing Hotel.

According to the New York Post, the father of the twins said that he put the babies in their cribs for a nap, and when he checked on them a few hours later they were unresponsive. The babies were later declared dead at Elmhurst Hospital.

Deepest condolences to the family.
